My Finance: Saving Up

I got paid today! Yay! (I act like I don't get paid every two weeks LOL!) I'm super excited because I just put away $50.00 in my savings account. You may not think $50.00 is not much, but is is a start for me. I am going to try---I mean I am going to save $50.00 per pay period and contribute it to my savings account. My goal is to save $3,000.00 by the end of the year. Of course, in order to do that, I will have to gradually increase the amount I am contributing to my savings account. Maybe by August I will be saving $200.00 per pay period. I'll see how it goes.

Oh, I'm still searching for another bank. If you have any suggestions, let me know. I am also looking for an Internet bank for my savings account. Holla at ya girl and give me your suggestions.

My Life, My Love, My Finance

Love ya,
Ms. HM

Hey Miss HM, Thanks for the comment! Good luck to you regarding your savings, I am not sure if you are already doing this but you should automatically have the 50 deducted from your paycheck either through your employer, through online banking, or through the savings company because if you don't see it. You won't miss it, that's what I am trying to do. Regarding my page, so what do you think? Are your friends and fam savers or spenders? And how is that working out for you? I just know I need to surround myself with like people, like minds, in order to be a success

I'm going to start having the money automatically taken out of my checking account each time I get paid. Unfortunately, my employer does not have an automatic deduction for savings. However, I do have a 401K through my employer that I plan on contributing more to within the next couple of years. I'll post about that sometime in the near future.

My family (parents, etc.) are generally very conservative. They don't live extravagent or anything , but they stay prepared for emergencies...especially since I have a sister who is still in college. My husband and I received our second degrees 2 years ago and we have a lot of student loan debt. We are living very conservatively. I do admit that there are areas I could cut back on spending and I use this blog as accountability to self.

I don't have many people I call friends. My best friend is very like me and we are both trying to become financially free. We are also trying to find a way to have multiple streams of income by setting up some type of small business. Our BIG goal is to own a restaurant franchise.

I like your blog. I like your story. In my profession, I am seeing a lot of people hit with forclosure. I admire how you are striving to get to financial freedom and not letting that situation deter you. That takes strength and courage. I will definately be following your journey. Thanks for checking me out. Ms. HM

I love ING for both online savings and checking. I have part of each paycheck direct deposited there.
